In October 2003, Al-Majaz Telecom made history by being the first company of its kind in the region to launch their unique package of wireless information services.

Al-Majaz Telecom, originally set up to outsource completely from AlJazeera their wireless services and build for them the, “AlJazeera Mobile”.

AlJazeera has developed over the last eleven years into the leading Arabic News Channel and on November 2006, AlJazeera launched its English News Channel making it an International News Channel that has proved to be the most daring regional station, wether through its International exclusive coverage of events or with the audacious talk shows and various analytical programs.

AlJazeera took center stage specially after the events of September 11th and during the Iraq war, becoming the talk of International Media.

AlJazeera with its modern and well equipped news room, its large number of correspondents and its most up-to-date website largely contributed to the AlJazeera brand building. Yet, one more requirement was still in dire need, for AlJazeera to have the news sent directly to the mobile, hence the emergence of “AlJazeera Mobile.

Al-Majaz Telecom built for AlJazeera their wireless portfolio, “AlJazeera Mobile” to initially serve the mobile subscribers in the region and subsequently in the world. In effect leveraging the power of the AlJazeera brand to reinforce the existing AlJazeera TV channel and the website content to deliver services through the mobile as the most up-to-date and cost effective delivery channel. Today delivery is through SMS and WAP (over GRPS) while in the very near future, delivery could be actual video clips and live photos through MMS technologies effectively creating a mini TV channel for AlJazeera on the mobile phones. In the process, we will expand the AlJazeera brand and compliment the TV channel programs with wireless interactive services and vice versa.
